ENERGY SAVING TIPS

ENERGY SAVING TIPS

HIGH ENERGY BILLS GETTING YOU DOWN?

Many Canadian residents are struggling with the cost of their electricity bills. While there are opportunities to lower your rates there are other ways to cut your electricity costs, including easy energy-saving tips.  Below are just a few suggestions on how you can fight back, and save in the long run.

  1. Install a programmable thermostat
  2. Take shorter and colder showers
  3. Swap your old lightbulbs for LED bulbs
  4. Wash clothes in cold water
  5. Adjust the temperature setpoints in your refrigerator and freezer
  6. Make sure seals on windows and doors are air sealed

  • Reduce electricity use during peak hours (between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.)
  • Implementing energy-efficient technology, appliances, and practices
  • Lower your water heater temperature
  • Unplug phantom loads - Appliances and electronics that are not in use but are plugged in still draw power
